Update of Skype 2.1.1 for iPhone

Published: August 26, 2010

Recently the Skype company has released the new program version 2.1.1 for iPhone. The program can be downloaded through iTunes App Store right now.

In the new Skype version you can turn off the notification about new instant messages, the virtual keyboard work better, the sound doesn't dissapear when switching to other iPhone applications and in the status "Do not disturb" no notifications appear, while Skype keeps working in the background mode.

The multitasking can be enjoyed only by users of iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch of the 3-rd generation, that are working on the base of iOS 4.

For iPhone 3G and iPhone 2G it's better to use Skype for iOS 3.1.x.

The main improvements: the sound of the tone dialing has been improved as well as there appeared a possibility to turn off the notifications about instant messages.

Several errors, indicated by users, have been fixed as well. Now Skype is not switched off when you are choosing Groups in the menu "Online Contacts" and works stably with incoming calls (before there had been several problems with accepting calls per iPhone in iOS 3.x).  By the way, now Skype is working well with pictures of any density and shows no notifications in the status "Do not disturb".

Skype has started a dialogue between politicians and their electors

Published: August 03, 2010

If you keep reading our articles, then you have managed to learn a lot about Skype. You know that Skype is busy with helping people communicate freely. The main aim of the company is to increase the ways of communication. But one of the places, that definitely lacks communication, is Washington D.C.

The Republicans are in council with Republicans. The Democrats hold counsel with people of the same habit. Industry is mostly busy with itself. All this is fed with a lot of money that goes through huge networks of research centers, public organisations and lobbyists companies. In this way, there's the only thought in the heads of society: "Washington! Are you listening to me?"

That's why the Skype company was pleasantly surprised, when last spring the Speaker Nancy Pelosi (@SpeakerPelosi) and the minorities leader John Bochner (@gopleader) started a discussion of how the Congress members could officially use Skype. Using Skype and other applications on the base of broadband connection opens interesting opportunities and new communication channels between the government and people they represent, and besides, it's absolutely free of charge. It's easy - people will work better, if in the politics everything will be clear and transparent.
