Skype goes on growing!

The executive director of Skype Josh Silverman shared some interesting numbers with the auditory of CommunicAsia2010.

12% of all international calls belong to Skype. This means billions of dollars cash that go through Skype and not telecommunication companies. 

34% of calls from one Skype account to another are video calls. In every third call video is used. And this is a great number of web-cameras.

4% of international calls are video calls via Skype. 34% times 12% results in one minute of 25. 

200 thousand of hours are spoken by Skype users in an hour. This means 1,7 billion hours in a year!

The Skype company suggests that by 2011 about 80% of new PCs will include pre-installed Skype. 306 millions of computers were sold in 2009, and in 2010 about 240-260 millions of new computers will contain pre-installed Skype (considering the 5% growth rate of the market). Though, Mac admirers won't get pre-installed Skype and Apple also doesn't confirm that Skype will be added to their iChat and FaceTime.

Skype is installed on about 15% of iPhones and iPods Touch. 12 millions more.

Every day 300.000 new users get registered in Skype. Which means that every year 110 millions of Skype users appear. 

The profit of the company keeps growing at 30% each year and made up 716 million USD in 2009. If this line on the profits graphic is prolonged, then in 2010 the profit of the company will reach 930 million dollars. 

50 million people use Skype toolbar every day.  Jonathan Rosenberg spoke about it in his presentation. 

The number of Internet users in India and China has more than doubled from 2005 till 2008. This explains the quick growth of QQ customers by the company Tencent. 

More than a half of Skype users speak English.
